The Copenhagen Jazz Festival kicked off last Friday and continues until Sunday, July 13. One of the most interesting parts of this year's program is Feast for the Ears, a week of events curated by local experimental music promoters, including Absolute Music, Barefoot Records, CRRNT Collective, Final Descent, MAGIA, Movement Shaped Like a Heart, and PRiMi and The Community. Spanning improv, ambient, noise, and electroacoustic music, the events will be held at Vesterbro’s Råhuset. Some highlights include collaborative performances by Carolyn Goodwin, Irene Bianco, and Michael Mørkholt; Aar and Dag's A MAJOR Celebration; and Kit Downes, Lotte Anker, Thorbjørn Stefansson, and Marius Wankel. Check out the full program and ticket information here.
Also starting on Monday, July 7th, the Copenhagen Trashzzfestival presents two days of outdoor afternoon concerts at Lygten Station. Performances on Monday at 3:30 pm include Hand of Benediction, Bloomers, and Vibrant as fuck, while Tuesday's lineup features URAÑO, Mokuto, and Necromancy. Free entrance!
Wednesday's highlight of the Copenhagen Jazz Festival is a performance by the doom jazz band Nausia and Danish guitarist Emil Palme at HUSET's Musikcaféen. Doors open at 8 pm, with shows starting from 9 pm.
Another DIY jazz festival spawn is taking place on Thursday, July 10, at Metronomen in Frederiksberg. A Dystopian Jazz Festival 2025 features performances by Marius Zeeberg, Camilla Nebbia, Gianluca Elia, Michaela Turcerová, Marco Colocci, Antti Lähdesmäki, and Nathan L. Tickets cost 60 kr.
Friday, July 11, is reserved for the performance by Marcela Lucatelli, a Copenhagen-based Brazilian composer and vocalist, at the music venue KLEIN at Karens Minde Kulturhus, presented by Jazz Club Loco. Lucatelli will present her latest release, COISA MÁ, her first wholly Brazilian Portuguese language album. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7:00 p.m.
You can catch a live show by Blue Lake on Saturday, July 12, at 2 pm at Toftegårds Plads 6 in Valby. Several other acts will perform throughout the week, including Bye Bye Sadness, Eloise Park Project, and Lyden af et Landskab.
Finally, on Monday, July 14, Night Journeys presents an ambient extravaganza at Pumpehuset’s Byhaven, featuring two New York–based artists: 7038634357 and Drumloop. 7038634357 recently released Waterfall Horizon, their second album on Blank Forms Editions. Admission is free; doors open at 3 pm, and the shows start at 7 pm.
As the summer event drought swiftly approaches, I couldn't help but wonder: Will this be the last of the somewhat irregular event recommendation posts for a while? In any case, Two Weeks should be back by mid-August, so that's only two times two weeks without event recommendations — but not entirely without posts! Thanks for following and stay tuned…
