Two Weeks: 26.03.–09.04.2026.
Go hard or go… Watch a movie or attend a lecture.
If your taste in music leans toward the noisy side of the experimental spectrum and you missed the opportunity to snatch a free ticket to artFREQ.’s “Radical Manchester” extravaganza, featuring Blackhaine, Iceboy Violet, and CurreMoodGirl, at Xenon (Huset), there’s a decent consolation prize in Nørrebro on that same evening. On Thursday, March 26th, Kenyan artist Lord Spikeheart (formerly of the grindcore duo Duma) will bring his energetic take on industrial trap metal to ALICE. Danish experimental guitarist Emil Palme will lead the audience gently (or maybe not so gently) into the night.
There’s an amazing hack for feeling less guilty about your “fredagsbar” rampage: kick the evening off by attending a lecture, for example. As part of Nermin Duraković’s current exhibition, “Dialogue with the City,” Astrid Noacks Atelier is hosting “NAM in ANA” this Friday, March 27th, from 17:00 to 20:00h. The conversation, conceived as a discussion about envisioning different possible futures, will focus on the Non-Aligned Movement from an ex-Yu perspective.
If you’re in the mood for some Copenhagen-flavored downtempo alt-pop later, you can catch Melodi Ghazal’s album release concert at Christianshavn Beboerhus on Friday night. Idol Melodies was recently released via the local label Anyines. For those favoring a more hyper kind of pop, Night Journeys is hosting an evening at VEGA’s Ideal Bar on the same Friday, the 27th. The PC Music affiliate Ultra Caro is visiting from London, and the Danish-Dutch duo Miaw is supporting.
On Saturday, March 28th, IMMERSE is taking over KoncertKirken for a one-day ambient music festival. The lineup includes Anton Friisgaard, Anna Roemer, Elin Piel, Karsten Pflum, Magnus Munk Tækker, and Mute State. Spherical Aberration will handle the visuals, and there will be a workshop by Dansk Modular. Find more information here.
You can always count on Mayhem for a somewhat grittier evening. Public Froth will present shows by Ragnhild May, Jeli’s Instrumentarium, Julie Østengaard, Ro, and Royal Spaceporn on the same Saturday evening. Doors open at 20:00h, and tickets are 75 kr at the door.
On Wednesday, April 1st, Rune Kielsgaard’s music platform and label, 20_14, returns to Loppen with its 20_14 RESORT event series. This installment features the whimsically mysterious London band, Felicity J Lord. Their debut album, released last year, packs 26 tracks – with everything from pop samples to spoken word – in under 40 minutes. Their live shows are rumored to be just as unpredictable. All in all, it sounds like the perfect bill for April Fools’ Day. Oh, and Ydegirl will be DJing for the night. Gig of the week tip!
The underground music scene seems to observe the biggest Catholic holiday – or the assumption that everyone is out of town – by not holding any particularly interesting events between Thursday and Sunday. The clubbing scene doesn’t seem to care that much, though. Seaworld is celebrating its 10th anniversary on Sunday, April 5th, with a 14-hour, two-floor daytime party at Pumpehuset. Copenhagen legend Mama Snake stands out in the lineup, which also features Parisian DJ Mac Declos, Stockholm-based DJ Nina Michelle, Milo Makua, and Johannes Astrup. So, if you’re looking to escape family duties, that’s one option.
Things return to normal on Wednesday, April 8th, with a couple of exciting options. Final Descent is hosting a dark ambient gala at Basement with the legendary Svarte Greiner, the “acoustic doom” project of Norwegian composer and Miasmah label founder Erik K. Skodvin. The Danish duo Tegn will be playing as the opening act. That same evening, Frigjort is presenting the Ugandan group Nihiloxica at Loppen. They are known for their vibrant, percussion-driven take on experimental metal. The Copenhagen-based DJ N.E.GIRL will open the evening.
Thursday, April 9th, is packed with even more options. A film screening organized by Tusind Sole is always a great way to start the evening. This time, they’re showing the latest film by acclaimed German director Angela Schanelec, My Wife Cries, starting at 19:00 at Empire Bio. There are still a few tickets left! Afterwards, we head to Christianshavn Beboerhus for a double bill featuring Vanessa Amara and Soli City. Vanessa Amara’s latest album, the lovely Café LIFE, was released last year on Posh Isolation. If you're slightly more inclined toward mid-stream or post-punk, there's also the Dry Cleaning show at VEGA. They’re touring in support of their newly released album, Secret Love.
