Two Weeks: 02.12.–15.12.2024.
Talks, screenings, and organ sounds.
It's been an intense November, but we're approaching the always slower holiday season. Still, there are some very interesting events happening over the next two weeks.
Starting strong, a tribute concert to Danish composer Else Marie Pade will take place at the DR Koncerthuset on her birthday, Monday 2 December at 20:00. Some of Pade's more or less rare acoustic and electronic works will be performed by artists such as Jacob Kirkegaard, Dybfølt, Kira Martini, Jakob Kullberg, Vokalensemblet Vigdis and others.
On Tuesday, December 3rd from 19:00 to 21:00, the Sound Art Lab will host an online session with Stephen McEvoy. Titled “Sonic Romanticism”, the lecture and open discussion will explore sonic forms as a response to alienation under capitalism. Registration via email to register@soundartlab.org.
Two interesting film screenings are taking place on Thursday 5 December! The podcast Projector Pod and KKT show Sean Baker’s instant classic Tangerine. The event takes place at Blågården, Blågårds Plads 5, 2nd floor at 19:00. Admission is free and the drinks are apparently cheap!
The same evening, the Art Hub Film Club returns for the second installment of Into the Dark We Enter, the program exploring "horror aesthetics in the context of a present embedded in horror". This Thursday's screening is entitled “Summoning the Boogeyman” and curated by Aaron Moulton. Free tickets with registration.
On Friday the 6th of December, the concert series FIMARA (“For Improvised Music and Related Actions”) will bring the Wolfskin Ensemble to the intimate setting of Cap30. The Copenhagen-based contemporary ensemble led by seven musicians – including Irene Bianco, Michaela Turcerová, and others – will perform “a special Christmas edition of their miniature concept”. Tickets are available here.
The People's Conference for Palestine is taking place this weekend to highlight the importance of the Palestinian solidarity movement. In addition to talks, panels, and workshops, the conference will include a film screening and a community kitchen. The program on Saturday 7 December will take place at Folkets Hus in Nørrebro, and the program on Sunday will take place at Byens Lys in Christiania.
On Saturday the 7th at Christiania Jazz Club & Børneteater, label 15 love presents live shows by Raisa K and Mija Milovic, as well as a rare DJ set by Bitte. Raisa Khan, a member of Good Sad Happy Bad along with Mica Levi, CJ Calderwood, and Marc Pell, will perform new material. Milovic will be performing The Broken Auras, which appeared on her excellent 2023 album Still Life.
This year's Organ Sound Art Festival kicks off from Thursday 12 December to Sunday 15 December, as usual at KoncertKirken. Highlights include Sarah Davachi, Henning Lundkvist and Ingri Høyland, Aron Dahl and Mija Milovic, Ed Atkins and Chris Shields, as well as other special performances, collaborations, and commissioned works. More information and day tickets here.
The same weekend, the Hush concert series “What's the flux” at Krudttønden in Østerbro will have its last show of the year on Friday 13 December. There will be live performances from Stephen McEvoy and Gintė Preisaitė, as well as a DJ set from vakström.
